Our latest brew is an Imperial strength Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale. We have taken a traditional beer style and given it a modern day makeover — with a Tempest twist. Brewed back in September 2012 using smoked malted barley courtesy of Teviot Smokehouse, and fermented using two different yeast strains specially produced for this beer in our brewery, you might be able to tell we’ve given this brew some extra TLC. It’s been cold matured in the brewery for six months in tank, bourbon and sherry casks, and then lovingly blended together into a powerful contemporary ale with plenty of history.
The resulting beer is huge on the nose with a hit of smoked stone fruit, wood, sweet malt, sherry and spice. Bottled and labelled by hand this ale is a rare breed indeed, and with limited availability it won’t be around for long. So get yours while you can.

O que pensou o nosso painel

Aroma: complexo com uma ligeira nota a malte adocicado, chocolate preto, café ligeiro, fumo e madeira ténue, bem como um pano de fundo tipo sherry.

Aparência: cor castanho a castanho escuro, de corpo rubi em contraluz. Límpida. Espuma castanho-claro, média-baixa, com baixa retenção. Formação de laço.

Sabor: similar ao aroma com sabor tipo sherry, ligeiro malte tostado e madeira ténue. Presença a álcool quase licorosa. Amargor médio-baixo com um final semi-seco e ligeiramente tostado.

Palato: corpo médio-alto e aveludado. Carbonatação baixa. Suave sensação de calor do álcool.

Geral: uma Strong Scottish Ale maturada em barril, muitíssimo agradável e complexa. Recomendada.
